Arsenic was found near Chinese, Greek, and Egyptian Civilization. Arsenic is believed to be discovered first by a german scientist named Albertus Magnus in the year 2500 B.C.. Arsenics history has to due mostly with it being the number one poison selection for most people in early times. Arsenic was used due to its lack of color, odor, and taste when used in drinks or food to kill its victim. Once the victim was poisoned it would be hard to see if it was the toxin arsenic or if it was just a case of food poisoning. Arsenic would give the victim the same victims as food poisoning but would follow with death from most commonly a shock. Arsenic can be extracted from Arsenopyrite, Realgar, and Orpiment. It is a naturally occurring substance and is mostly obtained by heating Arsenopyrite to get Arsenic. In the past Arsenic was used as a substance to make biochemical weapons, used to make a sort of glass, and as a color for certain sweets and many other items. |
